Gala Apples

Flavor Profile – Gala apples have a mild sweet and vanilla-like flavors with a floral aroma. Galas skin is firm and crisp, with a slight yellow to cream interior. This variety is excellent for fresh eating, salads, sauce, pies, and baking.

Apple Storage – Store apples in a cool place, such as your refrigerator crisper drawer with the vent open to release ethylene gas. Apples with bruises will spoil faster and contact with a spoiled apple will speed up of the spoiling process with the remainder of the apples. If storing on the counter be sure to consume within 2-3 days.  Please know that warm apples can absorb flavors of other surrounding items which can lead to early spoilage. Avoid storing your apples near onion or potatoes in the fridge, and bananas on the counter.

Tip: Drizzle lemon juice on top of cut apples to prevent browning while they sit out.

Fun Fact: In 2018 Gala Apples dethroned the Red Delicious apple as America’s Favorite apple by consumption.
